Maryland State ODP Player Selected to National Team
Player Spotlight Series

[Posted 8/6/2014]

Alyssa Minnick (2001-U13)

Alyssa Minnick is a member of the 2014 Maryland State ODP 2001 (U13) girls training pool and has recently been invited to train with the U14 Girls National Team during the August 23-30 Domestic Training Camp being held in Orlando, Florida. Minnick is one of only 36 players that have been invited to this camp. Minnick is a goal keeper and currently plays her club soccer with the Premier Soccer Club.

Minnick represented the Maryland State ODP at the 2014 Region I ID Camp July 10-13, 2014 and during the camp she was selected to the Region I ODP pool and the U.S. National Team pool for her age group and gender. Minnick stated, “While participating in Maryland [State] ODP, I learned so much, had so much fun, made many great friends and memories.  But most important, I had the best training and coaches.  What I learned during my experience with Maryland [State] ODP helped me improve my self-confidence both on and off the field.  I look forward to participating again in the fall." Additionally, her grandmother, Maria Parmer added, "We are so proud of Alyssa.  She works very hard and gives 100% to whatever she does.  As the weeks went by during her training at Maryland [State] ODP, we could see Alyssa's maturity level grow as a goalkeeper and a person.  She will definitely be back for try-outs in the fall."

Everyone from the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association congratulates Minnick on her selection to the U14 Girls National Team Domestic Training Camp and looks forward to watching her grow and develop as a person and as a player in the coming years!

Players desiring to represent their state, while receiving high-level training and the opportunity to earn a spot on the Regional or National pool for their age group and gender, should register to tryout for the 2015 Maryland State ODP this fall. Information pertaining to online tryout registration will be posted here beginning in early September.

What is ODP?

The US Youth Soccer ODP is a national identification and development program for high-level players.  The program identifies  and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their state and regional associations.  At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, and brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition.  From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.  Maryland State ODP teams are comprised of the best Maryland players in various age groups.
