2015 Maryland State ODP Tryout Schedules are POSTED!
All tryout dates and locations are subject to change without prior notice

Boy’s and Girl’s tryout schedules are posted on the left sidebar.  All tryout dates, times and locations are subject to change without prior notice.  All changes will be posted on the appropriate schedule.

The Maryland State ODP uses the calendar year for team formation.  Players will tryout in their birth year group.  Playing on a club team that has mixed birth years has no impact on the ODP process.

Age groups for the 2015 Maryland State ODP season are as follows:

2003/2004 (U12)

2002 (U13)

2001 (U14)

2000 (U15)

1999 (U16)

1998 (U17)

Important ODP Tryout Information
2015 season

Maryland State ODP tryouts (U13-U17) are scheduled for November 17-December 7, 2014. Tryout schedules are posted on the left sidebar.

Maryland State ODP teams are formed using BIRTHYEAR. Tryouts will be held November 17-December 7, 2014 for the following age groups: 1998 (U17), 1999 (U16), 2000 (U15), 2001 (U14), 2002 (U13).

The 2015 Maryland State ODP U12 tryouts for players born in 2003 (U12) and 2004 (U12) will be held October 25-26, 2014 at the Garrison Forest School.

Tryout registration for the Maryland State ODP U12-17 will be available beginning in early September, 2014.

Players must attend at least one tryout session to be eligible for placement on a Maryland state ODP pool roster. Additionally, U13-17 players will be asked to select and attend two (2) (and only two) of the available tryout blocks for their age group and gender.

Tryout blocks for the U13-17 age groups can be viewed by clicking here

If a player is unable to attend any of the posted tryout sessions (available on the left sidebar) then they must register for tryouts and then notify the MSYSA Programs Director in writing by the closing of the online registration (November 13, 2014 at 9:00am) (programs@msysa.org) to be considered for a callback tryout in March/April, 2015. A callback tryout is not guaranteed until approved by the MSYSA Programs Director.

ODP Tryout Preparation
Cold weather clothing

Because Maryland State ODP tryouts are held in November/December and cold weather is expected, all players (and parents) should dress appropriately.  Also, arrive early enough to check in at the registration table and to warm up properly.

The ODP tryout t-shirt must be visible at all times to ensure proper evaluation by our coaches.  Attempting to wear the tryout shirt over multiple sweatshirts and training tops isn’t always the most "comfortable" idea.  We want all players to be focused on the ball, their teammates and their opponents, not on how uncomfortable they feel while playing.  Please read the recommendations below to ensure you are properly prepared, comfortable and safe for ODP tryouts.

NOTE:  Please do not wear clothing or carry bags that display club or tournament logos to Maryland State ODP tryouts.

While on the field, players should wear:
  • 2-3 layers of lightweight clothing on their upper body
  • Shorts (once player is appropriately warmed up)
  • Gloves (optional)
  • Hat (optional)
  • Warm up pants (optional)

While resting, players should wear:
  • Heavy Sweatshirt
  • Warm-up Jacket
  • Warm-up Pant
  • Hat
  • Gloves

Please make sure to bring:
  • Inflated Soccer Ball
  • Shin Guards
  • Extra Soccer Shoes
  • Extra Socks
  • Water
