Maryland State ODP U13 Girls Go Undefeated Against International Competition

The 2015 Maryland State ODP U13 Girls training pool had an opportunity to travel to London, England from April 5-13 as part of the Maryland State Olympic Development Program to participate in friendly games against some of the top clubs in the world. The international travel opportunity was open to any player that tried out for the 2015 Maryland State ODP U13 Girls training pool and was selected to join following the conclusion of open tryouts in December, 2014.

Based on the large number of players that chose to attend the international travel opportunity, two teams were created; Maryland State ODP Red and Maryland State ODP White. The head coach for the red team was Steve Senna(Maryland State ODP U13 Girls Head Coach) and the head coach for the white team was Hector Morales (Maryland State ODP U13 Girls Assistant Coach). Both of the Maryland State ODP U13 Girls teams played games against Charlton Athletic Women's Football Club, Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, Crystal Palace Ladies Football Club and the Reading Football Club.

For the first time in history, the Maryland State ODP U13 Girls went undefeated (8-0) against these high-level international teams. The Excel International tour guide that has been helping to facilitate these international trips for many years was quoted as saying that this group of Maryland State ODP girls collectively represented the most highly skilled and talented group of players that he had ever seen come over from America.

Everyone from the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association congratulates the U13 Girls on this remarkable accomplishment and looks forward to watching them continue to grow and develop both as people and as players through the remainder of this season and in the coming years!

Players desiring to represent their state, while receiving high-level training and the opportunity to earn a spot on the Regional or National pool for their age group and gender, should register to tryout for the 2016 Maryland State ODP this fall. Information pertaining to online tryout registration will be available on the MSYSA website (http://www.msysa.org/odp/index_E.html) beginning in early September.
